Dr Scott Overholser DDS as a Dentist

August 13th, 2009

Dr Scott Overholser DDS is a big believer in preventive dentistry.  Because of the many improvements in fluoride toothpastes and oral rinses, many people no longer lose their teeth due to excessive and gross decay.  Today in the United States, many people who avoid seeking routine dental care, develop periodontal disease.  This is often painless and develops insidiously over a long period.  By the time patients realize a problem exists and seek treatment for it, they usually have advanced bone loss around their teeth and little can be done improve this.

Dr Scott Overholser DDS encourages his patients to get routine cleanings and exams twice a year.  This simple measure can stop major dental problems before they arise.  And, early detection of periodontal disease is easily treated and arrested.

Scott Overholser as a Talented Manager

May 6th, 2009

To better improve the quality of service that his facility provided, Scott Overholser initiated a step-by-step approach to supervise employees. He was able to promote good management and a more efficient workforce with this approach. The system tracked the performance of each employee through written reviews. As a result, employees were easily able to see where change and improvement was necessary. In this system, roles and duties were specifically defined and job titles were given to every employee.  In this regard, each employee knew their individual role in the office and exactly what their job functions included.

With this system that Scott Overholser devised, the morale of the employees was boosted and a healthy competitive nature developed within each department. This quickly weeded out weaker employees and allowed for a more suited replacement ultimately making the company stronger and more efficient.

Scott Overholser and Teamwork

March 24th, 2009

Scott Overholser, DDS, knows a thing or two about teamwork. For nine years, when Scott Overholser was managing a successful private practice, he was managing a team comprised of three expanded duty assistants, two hygienists, and two front office staff. This allowed him to treat between twenty fifteen to thirty patients a day. In addition, he’s proud that in those seven years, he had a very low attrition rate for his employees.

Scott Overholser would eventually go on to help manage a full-time staff of twenty five in multiple locations with very high retention. The man clearly knows how to build a team and keep morale high. According to colleague Gary McClary, DDS, “He treats everyone from employees, peers, friends and patients with a respect that they deserve and with every common courtesy.”

Maybe Scott Overholser finds inspiration in some of his favorite sports teams. He’s a fan of the Indiana Pacers, the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bulls.
